The
abstract images of the I Ching Oracle (usually
called "hexagrams") symbolize all of
the related and interacting aspects of reality.
In the following excerpts from actual Psychic Readings, the images of the I Ching
are discussed.

Youthful Folly
Whether
as a matter of intention or not, the effect of
this experience is to put an obstacle in your
path. In this regard, I can see the utmost
relevance in one of the verses that has been
highlighted specifically by todays Reading
from the image of Youthful Folly. In this verse,
the oracle says, Entangled folly brings
humiliation.
Listen to
Richard Wilhelms great commentary on this
verse. He says, For youthful folly it is
the most hopeless thing to entangle itself in
empty imaginings. The more obstinately it clings
to such unreal fantasies, the more certainly will
humiliation overtake it. Often the teacher, when
confronted with such entangled folly, has no
other course but to leave the fool to himself for
a time, not sparing him the humiliation that
results. This is frequently the only means of
rescue. Through these circumstances, one is
completely excluded from any relationship with a
real other, and therefore remains incurably
entangled in youthful folly.
This
commentary reminds me of Blakes poetic
aphorism: The fool who persists in his
folly shall become wise. I should add that
it seems to me that you yourself have doubts
about the reality of this experience. Of course,
even a fantasy is a real experience, but I mean
that even you wonder if this experience is a
product of your imagination. Therefore, I want
also to quote another great commentator on the
verse just quoted (Joseph Murphy): Your
vision is what you give your attention to, what
you are looking at mentally. You must have a
foundation under your mental image. You must be
practical. Your imagination must be disciplined,
controlled and directed wisely and judiciously.
Your dream or idea will never see the light of
day except it is deposited and felt as true
subconsciously.
[Let me
also say parenthetically that you are obviously
very gifted in a psychic way. The experiences
that you are having are broadening and deepening
your understanding of psychic experience in
general, so that someday, when you are called to
use your psychic abilities for the benefit of
others, you will have a certain kind of wisdom
that comes ONLY from very extensive and varied
personal experience. This is one echo, for me, in
the meaning of the image of Youthful Folly as a
whole for this Reading. You are still
youthful in your experience in this
realm, but you are fast maturing in your
understanding.]
