The Well
This positive sense of your
situation is probably best summed up in the verse
that has been highlighted specifically by
todays Reading from the image of The Well.
In this verse, the oracle says, One draws
from the well without hindrance. It is
dependable. Supreme good fortune.
Here again, the
Yang quality of the moment is
expressed through this image of nourishment. What
is it that stimulates and nourishes the first
growth of spring, when life is reborn victorious
against the dark forces of winter? It is
something for which we have no real name. To say
that it is sunlight and rain is at best
inadequate, essentially begging the question. In
fact, it is an invisible, ineffable power that
inheres in sunlight and in rain and in everything
else. In this moment, at this juncture in your
business affairs, that power is welling up to the
brim. You do not need to dig down deep to find
it. You do not need to stretch to reach it. The
week ahead affords you a source of power that you
may easily partake of. And as always, remember
that the real source of that power is actually
WITHIN YOU. Here is how Richard Wilhelm defines
this moment: The well is there for all. No
one is forbidden to take water from it. No matter
how many come, all find what they need, for the
well is dependable. It has a spring and never
runs dry. Therefore it is a great blessing to the
whole land. The same is true of the really great
man, whose inner wealth is inexhaustible; the
more that people draw from him, the greater his
wealth becomes.
