Psychic Readings from The
Psychic Internet often feature images drawn from the
I Ching Oracle. To offer supplementary
information about these images for our clients,
and for the public, we have provided this archive
of brief articles.

The
abstract images of the I Ching Oracle (usually
called "hexagrams") symbolize all of
the related and interacting aspects of reality.
In the following excerpts from actual Psychic Readings, the images of the I Ching
are discussed.

Limitation
You need
to remember something about the nature of
limitation. When your energies are stopped up by
an obstacle, as described in your Reading for
last week, this is because a limitation has been
imposed upon them. But, as I pointed out in last
weeks Reading, an obstacle and a limitation
can have a beneficial effect on a situation. It
can, for example, provide for a greater
accumulation of energy, as when water collects
behind a dam.
It can
also be beneficial, in that it provides for a
greater sense of personal discipline. That is the
meaning that is conveyed by todays
appearance of the image of Limitation. But, in
perfecting your understanding of the idea of
limitation, you need to realize that even
discipline must be exercised within strict
limitations. Sometimes, a gut instinct, for
example, demands a decision that otherwise, under
ordinary and more disciplined circumstances,
would require more discipline in the form of
caution and hesitation.
Thus, in the last verse that has
been highlighted specifically by todays
Reading from the image of Limitation, the oracle
says Galling limitation. Perseverance
brings misfortune. Remorse disappears.
Richard Wilhelm has another sort of
take on this verse that also may be relevant in
your actual situation. He says of this verse,
The limitation must be carried out in the
right way if it is to be effective. If we seek to
impose restrictions on others only, while evading
them ourselves, these restrictions will always be
resented and will provoke resistance. If,
however, a man in a leading position applies the
limitation first to himself, demanding little
from those associated with him, and with modest
means manages to achieve something, good fortune
is the result. Where such an example occurs, it
meets with emulation, so that whatever is
undertaken must succeed.
The moment ahead demands
something other than orthodox thinking. It
demands daring and a close attention to
subjective urges and intuition. Take the
straightjacket off of your way of doing things in
order to make the decision that will be required
of you during the week thats coming.
