The Star

There are three kinds of light depicted in the Tarot: the Sun, the Moon, and the Star. The Sun is bright illumination, of course, and so it appears in order to clarify matters. The Moon, as everyone knows, makes great lighting for love, but it has other qualities associated with night as well. But the image of the Star portrays the power of inner light. Our destiny is, of course, read in the stellar zodiac. But there is a difference between destiny and fate. Fate is coming at you, but your destiny, if you are not careful and immensely determined, recedes ever farther away; and so, the transcendentalist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, said, "Hitch your wagon to a star." The image of The Star tells you to have faith in your ideals, to dare to dream, and to hold tightly to your perceived purpose in life. The Star promises the renewal of hope, inspiration, and spiritual clarity.

In one of the most striking coincidences that we have encountered in the context of our Readings, a client told us about meeting a very beautiful woman while he waited for his blind date to meet him at the entrance to symphony hall before a concert. The first name of the woman he met corresponded to the name of his intended date, and in fact she was also waiting to meet her own blind date, whose first name also corresponded to that of our client. However, oddly enough, they were not each other's blind date, and had no corresponding acquaintance with the respective friends who had arranged their respective dates. Yet there was a powerful and immediate attraction between them, and they agreed to meet again for another concert. When our client asked about his prospects for a relationship with his new friend, was it any wonder to see the appearance of the image of The Star? We could see in this image that these two future lovers had met under a star of destiny that promised them perfect happiness and fulfillment in a lasting and beautiful relationship.
