The Ace of Swords
reflects a devotion to justice and truth. It represents
the power of penetration. Like any sword, it cuts.
Sometimes, for example, it refers to surgery. But our
intelligence and perception also penetrate into things.
Thus, The Ace of Swords often describes the need for an
objective examination of a situation, using logic and
reason to dispel confusion and doubt. And, as cutting is
irreversible, it often describes the need for decision.
This requires strength, and this image is the emblem of
fortitude in the face of challenges, being undaunted, and
overcoming obstacles. The great exemplar for the Ace of
Swords was the ancient hero, Alexander, but not just for
his use of the sword in war. Legend tells that Alexander
came to solve the puzzle of the Gordian Knot. It had been
prophesied that the man who untied that knot would
conquer the world. Many noble men tried, but failed.
Alexander wasted no time with clever but ineffectual
manipulations. He took out his sword and cut through the
rope and the knot with one fell swoop. In one of our psychic readings, a client asked about her prospects for success in her current job. For various reasons, we could see that there was little prospect for any personal fulfillment in the work that she was doing. Nor did she have much hope for promotion to a more challenging position in her company. The appearance of the Ace of Swords advised her not to let matters drift, but to take a forthright and determined attitude in order to make greater progress in her career. She needed to examine her options objectively, and then take action. The person who wields The Ace of Swords is not the victim, but the master, of her fate. |
