Psychic Readings from The
Psychic Internet often feature images drawn from the
I Ching Oracle. To offer supplementary
information about these images for our clients,
and for the public, we have provided this archive
of brief articles.

the I Ching Oracle, click here.
The
abstract images of the I Ching Oracle (usually
called "hexagrams") symbolize all of
the related and interacting aspects of reality.
In the following excerpts from actual Psychic Readings, the images of the I Ching
are discussed.

The Joyous
I will
begin by saying that, in your Reading, we have
consistently sensed that your destiny in this
lifetime is to experience true success in
business. A sublime purpose will be served by
that success, so that we do not feel that only
material desires are to be satisfied through it.
And in conformity with this general idea, in this
Reading I want to emphasize that you need to
persevere in your current direction, facing the
challenges that confront you, and moving beyond
them to the accomplishment of your goals. We
could say in fact that the fundamental message of
this Reading, and of some of the others that we
have given you on this subject, is best summed up
by the words of the so-called Judgment verse from
the image of The Joyous, which we have drawn for
you today from our I Ching Oracle.
This
verse says, The Joyous. Success.
Perseverance is favorable. The Chinese
oracle is always very clear in terms of its
judgment of the basic direction that is being
taken at any given moment. When it is time for a
strict reevaluation of ones essential
stance, and a need arises for a change in
direction, the words used may be
humiliation, or retreat.
Sometimes the word danger is enough
in itself to compel a different approach to
things. By contrast, the word perseverance is
only applied when ones direction is
appropriate and leading toward success. This
judgment about your current approach to your
business affairs is amplified by the appearance
of the image of The Joyous, which depicts a
certain kind of self-confidence, and the pleasure
that is derived in that. Indeed, Confucius has
said about the image of The Joyous, The
good fortune of sincere joyousness consists in
having faith in ones own will. This
commentary was spoken by the great sage in
response to the verse that has been highlighted
specifically for you by todays Reading from
the image of the Joyous. It says, Sincere
joyousness. Good fortune. Remorse
disappears.
The
quality of joyousness will easily result when you
give full range to your own self-confident faith
in yourself. But you must realize also that you
have undertaken extraordinarily high goals, and
therefore you must expect that it will take a
long time to fulfill them. There can be no
question of a quick and easy victory for you.
Your success will be measured in terms of a long
course of development, in the course of which
there will be ups and downs. We are not
specifically seeing any downs in your
immediate future. Yet, we can also tell you that
the period ahead is also not going to be a period
of strong and fast progress. In short, this is
not the time to be expecting major rewards on
your investments.
Sometimes
what we do not see is just as important as what
we do see in a given situation. The signs of
imminent reward are always unmistakable,
especially when it is a matter of material gain.
These signs are not yet present in your current
situation, and they dont seem to be
entering into the picture at any time during the
rest of this year.
Thus,
this can tend to be a frustrating time for you,
especially considering the high and giddy sense
of profit that is, nervously, attending to all of
the major financial markets at this moment. We
feel very uneasy about the uncritical attitude
that many people are taking to their investments
at this time. This seems to be a relevant matter
for you to consider, i.e. the general optimism of
the business community, because the image of the
Joyous also carries a specific warning to you
about falling in with the excessive joyousness of
thoughtless people. Listen to a great commentary
by Richard Wilhelm on the verse quoted above,
which as we said was highlighted for you by
todays Reading. We often find
ourselves associating with inferior people in
whose company we are tempted by pleasures that
are inappropriate for the superior man. To
participate in such pleasures would certainly
bring remorse, for a superior man can find no
real satisfaction in low pleasures. When,
recognizing this, a man does not permit his will
to swerve, so that he does not find such ways
agreeable, not even dubious companions will
venture to proffer any base pleasures, because he
would not enjoy them. Thus every cause for regret
is removed.
The base
pleasures referred to here have to do with the
pursuit of the quick buck, so to
speak. You need to cultivate a greater sense of
prudence in your affairs than you are likely to
find exhibited among your peers and associates.
It would be wise to be very careful about this
and to maintain your individuality.
There is
another verse that is highlighted specifically
for you by todays Reading from the image of
The Joyous. It says Joyousness that is
weighed is not at peace. After ridding himself of
mistakes a man has joy. It is the first
part of this verse that is particularly relevant
to the period ahead. We believe that you will be
encouraged by your peers to consider the really
tremendous joys that could be the result of just
a little more risk. This will be tempting. But,
it will not be wise for you to entertain this
kind of thinking. Instead, persevere in your
long-term goals, and maintaining your current
direction (strategy). This is where its at
for you at this time. You have no need to
fantasize about even greater rewards by suddenly
taking a different tack. Stay the course. Be
content with your gradual progress. Dont
get carried away by thoughtless euphoria in the
markets.
