The Tarot and Other Oracles
In fact, science, especially quantum physics and astrophysics are hot on the trail of identifying, classifying, and measuring energies that have eluded all but traditional belief systems and esoteric discussions through the ages.
How can scrying (reading) oracles like the Tarot and I Ching possibly be accurate in an assessment of past, present, and future since the selection of cards by a "reader" seems like chance?
Like most oracles, the images of Tarot are archetypal; that is, they reflect the experiences and psyche of humanity throughout the ages.
In order to understand how the Tarot works (that is, why it seems so accurate in describing our situation and predicting the way we will respond to people, places, situations, and events in the future) we must adopt a new understanding of the world and of our own minds.
According to the science of statistics, everything is probability-based. Eastern Philosophy describes probabilities as Cause and Effect with an intimate connection among all things.
Because of this intimate connection, an action in one place can have an effect, however subtle, upon everything else in the universe.
When an oracle is consulted, the reader views a "slice of time," a slice of what quantum physics calls the "time spiral," with all its lines of probability or probable events. We might say that the future is created out of the interaction of various, often contradictory, probabilities.
Because of action, interaction, and reaction at all times in all places, affecting every living thing, probabilities become less certain the further one looks out into the future. Factors not present in the "slice of time" may enter the mix and become apparent "along the way." Thus another "slice of time," viewed just minutes later, can reveal new and/or different information.
Some probabilities are much stronger than others and these change very little, if at all, as they move through time. The weaker lines of probability can change radically minute by minute.
Sometimes parallel lines of probability may be viewed, and differentiating among them, requires the clear vision of a talented psychic.
The most accurate readings relate to the present which is unfolding out of in a field of strongest probabilities.
With each change in attitude or perspective, with each new decision, probabilities shift, and, interestingly, the past changes too! This is the healing potential that we possess as humans as we exercise volition.
We can see then that "Fate" is somewhat of a misnomer since it is nothing more than the strongest, most apparent lines of probability, over which we have influence.
Thus, a Tarot reading by a skilled, intuitive person can produce surprisingly accurate and insightful directives and suggestions to help us reinforce what we want to happen, and change what we want to avoid.
"To be forewarned is to be forearmed."
I wish you greater self-knowledge and with this knowledge, a better understanding, not just of the answers, but of the questions you bring to the Tarot. The answers you receive should be taken in this context and never interpreted as predestined or sealed by Fate. An oracle reading is one piece of evidence or information that should be taken into the entire mix of what you know to be true and what research and experience have provided.
