Dr. Glenn Williston, a San Francisco and Lake
Tahoe therapist, uses the cards without the accompanying layouts.
Clients peruse the deck, picking their favorite cards and using
them to create a scenario. He also deals out specific cards, such
as the lamp, the wind, the circle, and the mask, to serve as a
quick Rorschach-style test. "It triggers a lot of
information about a person."
As a tool in therapy and self-discovery,
Williston said Star+Gate is easier to work with than Tarot or the
I Ching. "Tarot is much more complicated and sophisticated.
This is easier, more obvious and more accessible to the average
person."
Dr. Williston combines his special gift of
insight with his extensive back-grounds in science, psychology,
and metaphysics.
Even at age eight, Dr. Williston was
"seeing" into people's issues. "I guess I was just
born with the ability," Dr. Williston says modestly.
"My mother is very intuitive, but as is the case with so
many people, worry gets in the way of her full use of it."
Dr. Williston's approach to Readings is very
different from most. "It is not passive listening for the
person but active involvement in the process. Most people have
far more insight than they realize and just need some direction
or framework for expression. I help them achieve that framework
and add my insights as we go along. All-in-all, it provides a
much more complete and accurate Reading than the typical type of
'psychic' reading."
Why do people want Readings? "Most are
interested in relationships, work, money, places to live, and
children. Those are the biggies, at least that is what most
people think at the beginning of a Reading. Often times, other
issues that are more pressing push their way in and allow much
detail. Some people are just curious, so an overall Reading can
be very helpful. The purpose of all Readings should be to give
direction, acting like a compass of sorts. The second important
purpose should be healing. Mankind has used symbols for healing
through history and the symbols used in Readings can serve the
same purpose."
